Larew® answers call to “where’s the beef?”
Who would have thought that a 12” worm just wasn’t quite big enough? Bass fishermen, of course.
Gene Larew Lures® developed a fast following among big worm aficionados immediately after introducing its 12” El Salto Grande just a couple of years ago. The anglers liked its ribbontail style and the several innovative new colors it came in, like Montezuma’s Revenge, MediaNoche, Jalapeño Pepper and Margarita on the Rocks.
In fact, the only B grade on the report card was for the worm’s somewhat slender diameter that was marginally adequate when used with 5/0 or bigger heavy-wire worm hooks.
Well, get the gold stars ready because the El Salto Grande worm has been beefed up in response to anglers’ wishes and the new diameter is definitely A+ worthy. Its diameter has been increased by about 15 percent and the beefed-up body is a good look to go along with its long and fleshy tail, which remained unchanged.
The new body size now works perfectly with all styles of popular big worm hooks, and it’s already available in most of its full 13 offerings. Among the color lineup is the new-for-2010 option, Watermelon Blue.
El Salto Grande 12” worms are packaged 10 per resealable bag. A pack retails for around $5.99 each.
